Rendered 2027 Lada Niva Could Change Everything

The new Lada Niva is starting to look much more real now that patent images of the upcoming crossover have surfaced online. While the company has not officially revealed the vehicle yet, these images give a much clearer idea of what the future model could look like when it finally reaches production. For longtime Niva fans, there is a lot here that feels familiar, but there is also a noticeable shift toward a more modern and urban-focused design.

One of the most interesting parts of the leaked design is the front end. Instead of using a traditional badge, the grille integrates large stylized “NIVA” lettering directly into the design. It gives the crossover a bold personality and instantly separates it from many other compact sport utility vehicles on the market. The headlights also feature a more modern appearance, while the bumper has a smoother and more aerodynamic shape compared to older Niva models.

Even though the new vehicle appears far more modern than previous generations, it still keeps several classic design touches inspired by the original Niva. The body sides feature strong horizontal lines that echo the rugged shape of the older off-road icon. Another detail that stands out is the rear pillar design, which includes 3 decorative recesses similar to the original model. These small touches help the crossover maintain some heritage while still moving into a more contemporary direction.

The proportions of the crossover may look familiar to many viewers because the vehicle appears closely related to the latest Dacia and Renault Duster. That connection makes sense considering the project reportedly started while Renault was still involved with Lada development programs. The rear door handles are integrated into the pillars just like on the newest Duster, giving the side profile a cleaner and more upscale appearance.

At the rear, the crossover continues the retro-inspired theme with compact horizontal taillights that appear to reference early Niva models produced decades ago. The overall rear design looks simple and rugged without becoming overly complicated.

Technical details remain unconfirmed for now, but reports suggest the crossover may ride on a heavily localized version of the CMF-B platform. Some rumors also suggest the possibility of using the Vesta platform instead. Engine choices could include 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter gasoline engines already found in other Lada vehicles.

The exact debut date is still unknown, but the appearance of patent images usually means development is progressing quickly behind the scenes. If the production model stays close to these designs, the new Niva could become one of the most important vehicles Lada has introduced in years. It combines retro-inspired styling with modern crossover trends, and that combination could attract both longtime Niva enthusiasts and younger buyers looking for something different in the compact sport utility vehicle segment.
