New 2027 Mercedes AMG CLA 45 Sounds Like a Real Performance Car

The biggest surprise about the new 2027 Mercedes AMG CLA 45 is not just its incredible performance. It is the way Mercedes AMG has tried to recreate the emotion of driving a traditional performance car, even though this model is fully electric. Instead of delivering silent acceleration, the engineers focused on making every drive feel exciting by adding familiar sounds, vibrations, and shifting sensations that many enthusiasts have come to love.

Selecting the new AMGFORCE S Plus driving mode completely changes the character of the car. Rather than simply accelerating in near silence, the CLA 45 produces a realistic four cylinder engine soundtrack that rises and falls with acceleration. Drivers can also use the steering wheel paddle shifters to simulate gear changes, creating the feeling of shifting through a traditional transmission. The tri motor electric powertrain produces up to 670 horsepower during peak output, while 603 horsepower is available continuously. Two rear mounted axial flux motors generate the full peak output, while a third front motor provides additional traction when needed. The CLA 45 can even operate in rear wheel drive mode while still delivering maximum performance.

Acceleration is astonishing, reaching 62 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 miles per hour, or 168 miles per hour when equipped with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package. Power comes from a 94 kilowatt hour battery pack supported by an 800 volt electrical architecture. The sedan delivers an estimated 416 miles of driving range under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure cycle, while fast charging can take the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in only 22 minutes using a 330 kilowatt direct current fast charger. Just 10 minutes of charging can restore approximately 168 miles of driving range, making the new CLA 45 one of the most advanced performance electric sedans Mercedes AMG has ever produced.
