New 2027 Kia Seltos – The Small SUV That Finally Feels Premium

The new generation of expensive crossovers keeps creeping up in price, but the Kia Seltos still aims to be the realistic choice for everyday buyers. The outgoing model has done that job well, but you can see its age in the front fascia and in a cabin that feels a step behind the latest competitors. In the United States, the current Seltos offers a 147 horsepower 2.0 liter engine and a 190 horsepower 1.6 liter turbo, and Kia says the new generation will deliver similar output figures. The high output turbo engine continues to be paired with an eight speed automatic transmission, and all wheel drive will remain available as an option for buyers who want extra grip and confidence.

The big mechanical news is a hybrid variant that is coming to the lineup. Kia confirms that the Seltos hybrid will support vehicle to load capability, so you will be able to plug in tools, camping gear, or electronics directly from the car. Because the Seltos shares its platform with the Niro Hybrid, it is very likely that Kia will adapt that proven powertrain, blending real world efficiency with enough power for daily driving.

Visually, the second generation Seltos makes a strong first impression. The front end wears a wider grille, a cleaner bumper design, and sharper lighting graphics. Technology takes a step forward as well. The new Seltos will be capable of receiving over the air software updates, reducing trips to the dealership and allowing Kia to add features over time. An integrated artificial intelligence assistant will let drivers use natural voice commands for navigation, media, and basic vehicle functions. A full suite of driver assistance systems will be available, along with a head up display to keep key information in the driver’s line of sight.

Kia plans to begin production of the second generation Seltos in December, with United States sales starting sometime next year, likely with 2027 model year badges.
