Jaguar Type 01 Has a Wild New Interior
Jaguar is taking a very different approach to luxury with the upcoming Type 01, and its interior may be one of the clearest signs yet that the company is moving in a completely new direction. Instead of filling the dashboard with massive displays, Jaguar has created a dramatic 4-seat cabin built around a central spine that stretches through almost the entire interior.
The Type 01 is designed strictly as a 4-seater. Each passenger gets an individual space rather than sharing a traditional rear bench. The large center structure separates the seats and gives the cabin the feeling of 4 individual pods. Up front, the driver sits in a focused grand touring position with a digital display positioned directly ahead.
One of the most unusual details is the brass-inspired finish that runs along the central spine and continues toward the doors. Jaguar has also looked beyond traditional automotive materials for inspiration. Travertine stone influenced several of the cabin’s colors and textures, while carefully selected textiles cover the seats and other areas passengers regularly touch.
Technology has not disappeared, but Jaguar does not want it dominating the experience. The Type 01 uses a technology-on-demand philosophy, allowing certain controls and features to remain hidden until they are needed. There is a driver display and a central screen for important vehicle and climate functions.
The cabin also features a digital ClearSight rear view display because the Type 01 does not use a conventional rear window. This allows Jaguar to maintain the dramatic exterior shape without completely sacrificing rearward visibility.
The interior gives us an important preview of what Jaguar wants its future luxury cars to become. Rather than copying the screen-heavy cabins appearing throughout the electric vehicle market, Jaguar is emphasizing architecture, materials, individual passenger spaces, and a cleaner relationship with technology.
The Type 01 interior is expected to appear during Monterey Car Week, including Pebble Beach on August 16. The complete Type 01 is scheduled to be revealed in New York on October 6, 2026, giving us the full picture of Jaguar’s radical new electric grand tourer.
