Inside the 2027 Škoda Peaq Factory! Electric SUV Production Starts

Škoda Auto has officially begun production of its new all electric Peaq, marking an important milestone for the Czech automaker as it continues expanding its electric vehicle lineup. Built at the company’s main manufacturing plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Peaq is now rolling off the same assembly line as the Elroq, Enyaq, and the combustion powered Octavia. That combination highlights just how much flexibility has been engineered into the factory, allowing Škoda to build different types of vehicles without sacrificing efficiency.

The arrival of the Peaq also signals a new chapter for the brand. As the largest vehicle Škoda has ever produced, it becomes the company’s flagship sport utility vehicle and demonstrates how quickly its electric vehicle strategy is evolving. Customer interest has already exceeded expectations, with nearly 8,500 orders placed before the end of July, only weeks after the vehicle made its market debut.

One of the biggest achievements behind the scenes is the transformation of the production line itself. Originally designed for traditional combustion engine vehicles, the facility has gradually been modernized to support electric vehicle manufacturing. The Enyaq became the first battery electric model produced there in 2020, followed by the Elroq in early 2025. Now, the Peaq joins that growing family, proving the factory can efficiently produce multiple vehicle types at the same time.

Adding such a large vehicle to the assembly line required much more than simply making space. Engineers introduced larger production carriers to improve both worker comfort and safety while handling the bigger body. Specialized equipment was also installed to simplify the installation of the Peaq’s third row of seats. Additional upgrades throughout the press shop, body shop, and paint shop help maintain a steady production flow despite the vehicle’s larger dimensions.

Sharing the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix platform with the Enyaq and Elroq provides another important advantage. Using the same architecture allows Škoda to streamline manufacturing, reduce production complexity, and respond more quickly as customer demand changes across different electric models.

The Peaq also introduces impressive technology that reflects its flagship status. Buyers choosing the top specification receive the largest battery ever fitted to a Škoda vehicle. With a gross capacity of 91 kilowatt hours and a usable capacity of 86 kilowatt hours, the battery delivers a driving range of more than 640 kilometers on a full charge. Customers looking for a more affordable option can select a 63 kilowatt hour battery, while multiple power outputs ranging from 150 kilowatts to 220 kilowatts are available. Depending on the version, drivers can choose either rear wheel drive or all wheel drive.

Beyond its powertrain, the Peaq offers features never before seen on a Škoda production vehicle. Flush door handles improve both styling and aerodynamics, while a panoramic glass roof with Dynamic Shade Control enhances passenger comfort. Bidirectional charging also allows the vehicle to supply electricity back to external devices or compatible energy systems, making it even more practical for everyday use.

Measuring 4.87 meters in length and riding on a wheelbase of nearly 3 meters, the Peaq becomes the most spacious sport utility vehicle the company has ever offered. Its three row seating configuration gives families additional flexibility while allowing Škoda to compete in the growing large electric sport utility vehicle segment.

The Peaq is not arriving alone. Alongside the smaller Epiq, which is being produced in Spain, Škoda now offers a broader electric lineup aimed at reaching more buyers across Europe. Together, these two new models double the company’s fully electric portfolio and strengthen its position in one of the world’s fastest growing automotive markets.

Production numbers also reflect this momentum. During the first half of 2026, almost 23 percent of all vehicles built at Škoda’s Czech factories were fully electric. With the Peaq now entering full scale production and customer demand already running high, that percentage is expected to continue climbing as the company accelerates its transition toward an increasingly electric future.
