Honda Civic Type R – Synchro Racing Team – Video

 

The Type R is a race car built for the road. As we celebrate Type R Takeover Week, The Engine Room has looked at one of the most unique race teams in the world.

Synchro Motorsport is Honda’s very own race team. Based out of the Swindon factory, its 18 core members are volunteers. On shift, a veritable medley of mechanics, engineers, designers and office staff diligently contribute to the success of a factory that produces Type R’s for the rest of the world, building world-renowned reliable engines and manufacturing cars, bikes, power tools and marine products.

Once their shifts have ended however, these enthusiasts collaborate in their own workshop to produce race-spec versions of Honda’s production models. Having conquered the Civic Tourer and even the Honda Jazz, this season they’re racing the Civic Type R in the Britcar Endurance Championship. The Civic Type R model is 85% production specification with only 15% vital race enhancements.
