Denza Z Debut in Europe To Take Aim at Ferrari and Porsche
The electric supercar segment has a serious new contender, and it comes from China. Denza, the premium brand backed by BYD, has officially revealed the all-new Denza Z at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, giving enthusiasts their first close look at a machine built to challenge some of the world’s fastest performance cars. With breathtaking acceleration, advanced technology, and a striking design, the Denza Z is aiming far beyond the domestic market, with Europe already confirmed as one of its future destinations.
The new model arrives in several forms, including the Coupe, Spider, Racing, and an even more extreme Special Edition that is being prepared for a Nürburgring Nordschleife record attempt. While each version has its own personality, they all share the same goal of combining incredible speed with everyday usability.
Power comes from BYD’s latest e3 platform, which uses 3 electric motors to create an intelligent all-wheel-drive system. One motor powers the front axle while 2 independently controlled motors sit at the rear. This setup allows active torque vectoring, helping the car deliver exceptional grip and precise handling whether it is attacking a race circuit or carving through winding roads.
Performance figures place the Denza Z among today’s elite electric supercars. The tri-motor system produces 1,582 horsepower and 914 pound-feet of torque, allowing the Coupe to sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour in only 2.25 seconds before reaching a top speed of 186 miles per hour. Buyers looking for even greater performance can choose the Racing model, which lowers the acceleration time to 1.96 seconds and raises the top speed to 217 miles per hour with optional semi-slick tires. The flagship Special Edition takes things even further with more than 1,971 horsepower and a claimed 0 to 62 miles per hour time of under 1.7 seconds.
Denza has also focused heavily on aerodynamics. The sleek body channels air through carefully designed openings that improve cooling while generating meaningful downforce. The Racing model receives a larger front intake and an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing, while the Special Edition introduces additional lightweight composite panels, an active front diffuser, and an advanced rear wing system capable of producing more than 4,409 pounds of downforce at high speed.
Despite its extreme performance, the Denza Z has not forgotten comfort. The cabin features premium materials including carbon fiber, soft suede-like surfaces, and metallic trim. Drivers face a digital instrument display alongside a large infotainment screen, while physical buttons on the steering wheel provide instant access to Track mode and Boost mode. Heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats further demonstrate that this supercar is designed for long journeys as well as spirited driving.
Charging technology is another area where the Denza Z stands out. Its 76 kilowatt-hour Blade battery supports charging speeds of up to 1,500 kilowatts, allowing the battery to recharge from 10 percent to 97 percent in only 9 minutes under ideal conditions. The battery is integrated directly into the vehicle’s structure, improving rigidity while helping reduce weight.
Technology continues to play a major role throughout the driving experience. Drivers can customize torque distribution, regenerative braking, suspension behavior, traction control, and stability systems through dedicated performance profiles. A simulated engine sound can also be adjusted to match different driving moods, giving owners the choice between a traditional gasoline-inspired soundtrack or a futuristic electric performance tone.
With incredible power, remarkably fast charging, advanced chassis technology, and plans to compete on the Nürburgring, the Denza Z represents one of the boldest electric supercars introduced in recent years.
