Family Car Reimagined: 2026 Kia Carens Clavis and EV Revealed

Kia just unveiled the 2026 Carens Clavis and its all-electric sibling, the Carens Clavis EV, and they are shaking up the family vehicle game. The new design gives the Carens Clavis a bold new look, highlighted by Ice Cube LED lights, a sleeker front end, and connected LED tail lights that stretch across the rear. It is more than just style though—the cabin has been elevated with dual 12.3-inch displays, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and even a Bose premium sound system. You also get a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging for added convenience.

Under the hood, the internal combustion engine models are offered with a 1.5-liter petrol engine in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms, as well as a diesel option. Depending on the trim, you can choose between a manual gearbox, an intelligent manual transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Six-seat and seven-seat layouts are available, making it a versatile option for families.

Now let’s talk about the game-changer—the Carens Clavis EV. Built on Kia’s electric platform, this is their first mass-market EV made in India. There are two battery options: 42 kilowatt-hours with up to 404 kilometers of range, and 51.4 kilowatt-hours with up to 490 kilometers of certified range. It supports 100 kilowatt direct current fast charging, getting from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes, and 11 kilowatt alternating current home charging, which takes roughly 4 to 5 hours depending on the battery.

Power outputs range from 99 kilowatts to 126 kilowatts, translating to 0 to 100 kilometers per hour times of 9.5 seconds or 8.4 seconds respectively. The Clavis EV tops out at around 166 kilometers per hour. Other standout features include one-pedal driving, four levels of regenerative braking, automatic regen adjustment, and vehicle-to-load functionality. Inside, it mirrors the gasoline version with high-end touches like a floating center console and rear air vents.

Prices for the Carens Clavis EV start at ₹17.99 lakh and go up to ₹24.49 lakh, while the gasoline version ranges from ₹11.49 lakh to ₹19.39 lakh. Both come with level-2 advanced driver assistance systems, 6 airbags, and blind-spot monitoring, making them safe and tech-savvy options for modern families.
