2016 Camaro SS Dyno Numbers – Video

2016 Camaro SS Dyno Numbers – Video

Give the tuning world some time and we’ll all be flooded with dyno videos showing what happens when aftermarket developers get their hands on the 2016 Camaro. Until then, we need to see what the stock Chevy muscle car can do on the dyno.

For now, we’ll be focusing on the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, with the V8 incarnation of the machine hitting the rolling road thanks to the team over at Hot Rod Magazine.

A Yellow incarnation of the SS was taken to Addiction Motorsports dyno over in Canoga Park, CA. We have to mention the model in question featured a manual gearbox. The results were more than solid, with the Camaro putting down 405.2 hp and 405.4 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.

Chevrolet says the Camaro SS delivers 455 at the crank, but the value at the wheels suggests we might be dealing with a bit more than that.

The LT1 V8 under the hood of the muscle machine delivered an ear-pleasing soundtrack while doing its stuff on the dyno, with the footage below giving us a good taste of the engine’s soundtrack.

We expect this piece of footage to act as an appetizer to many tuners out there, who are now rubbing their spanner in excitement.

Then again, GM engineers also have their hands busy, as the carmaker is in the midst of the Camaro ZL1 development process. We’ve seen multiple sphyshots episodes and there’s a particular reason for which we’re holding our breath for the unveiling of the machine.

The now-old ZL1 was affected by the fifth-generation Camaro’s weight issues, but now the new Alpha platform has cut about 200 lbs (90 kg). Moreover, it brings an increase in torsional rigidity, so we’re expecting the new ZL1 to be quite a blast, corners included. However, we’ll stick to the SS for now and invite you to hit the “Play” button below.
