CarAdvice brought two of our picks of the mid-size SUV segment from brands that know a thing or two about 4WDing: the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The iconic Jeep Cherokee is bound to be impressive off-road, with a rear diff lock, low range and handy tow hooks.

The legendary Land Rover Discovery Sport doesn’t have quite as many goodies, but features a torquey Diesel engine – which should prove handy compared to the revvy petrol six-cylinder in the Jeep.
