1974 BMW 2002 Turbo on eBay expected to bring $100,000

1974 BMW 2002 Turbo on eBay expected to bring $100,000

This 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo (chassis 4290352) is said to be in original, unrestored condition. Despite this, it was repainted the original color some time ago, and new window seals have also been fitted as well. It’s said to be mechanically excellent and was recently appraised at ~$100k.

A little more than five years old, the Chamonix respray still looks pretty good, though there are some spots that lack consistent coverage around rockers and inner doors. There are a few small bubbles in the “turbo” graphic ahead of the passenger side door, with a small chip on the edge of the door. The air dam is also shown up close and exhibits a fair amount of scuffs and rock chips. Trim is lightly pitted with a few dings, but tires appear to be new.

Inside, the driver’s rubber floor mat is worn, the console looks like it might be damaged toward the back right side, and headliner fabric on the C-pillar is a bit loose and yellowed. Otherwise the interior appears very nice and were it not for the issues presented, we’d have a hard time believing it to be in original condition. All instrumentation is working.

Mileage in the listing seems to be consistent with the reading on the odometer, assuming it has rolled over once. Said to be numbers-matching, the turbocharged, 2.0 liter M31 runs well with no issues.

Though the seller says appraisal was for a #1 example, a solid #2 condition would be a more accurate label based on what we’ve seen here. We wonder how close reserve is to six figures.
